Malibu Pilates is a Great Way to Gain Strength and Flexibility

If you are looking for a great way to get in shape and strengthen your core muscles and improve flexibility, you really should consider pilates. If you are looking for a way to strengthen your midsection better than normal abdominal exercises and improve strength and flexibility, read on and you will see what this great form of exercise is all about. I will start off by telling you about the original equipment then talk about the new innovation of this 100 year old exercise.

Joseph Pilates developed a system of exercise based on aerobics and yoga in the early 1900’s. He called his system of exercise contrology and wrote a couple books about it. Now, his teachings have been adapted into a system of exercise widely referred to as pilates.

Pilates can be done on a machine called a reformer. There is a sliding carriage within a rigid frame. Straps and handles are used to pull the carraige around inside the frame. Springs and your body weight provide the resistance you need to get a good workout. While sitting, kneeling, or laying on the carriage, you do your exercises.

Pilates reformers are very useful, but they are usually pretty large and take up a lot of space to use and can be difficult to store. The reformer may fold up, but even then there is a piece or equipment that is at least 3 feet long and a couple feet wide that you need to worry about. Fortunately, there is a solution for those of us who don’t have a lot of floor space.

The Malibu Pilates machine, a new adaption of the old pilates machine, is a great solution for anybody who wants to get the benefits of pilates but doesn’t have the room for a traditional pilates machine. This little machine allows you to get a complete workout then put your machine away in a closet or under your bed. You get a great core workout doing exercises that are based on the pilates principles but done in a little different way using the smaller machine.
